Urth Cafe in LA

My friend took me to this organic cafe in Santa Monica at night. At first I was afraid to eat the pastries offered there because it looked like one of those typical American over sweet stuff. It turned out pretty good though. It has more of a rich taste to it than sweetness. Coffee was great! Service was great, too! I'll definitely come back to this place. If love coffe and happen to be in LA, stop by to Urth Cafe. URTH CAFE [..continue]

Beckham in Los Angeles

David Beckham coming to LA is such a huge topic now. I guess it goes way beyond soccer... His wife, money, business, etc. Perhaps a lot of people don't know much about the stadium he'll be playing. Well, here is the link to give an idea where the stadium locates. Little south of the heart of Los Angeles County. Home Depot Stadium Here is LA Galaxy's website... It's all about Beckham and it scares me... LA Galaxy's website To be honest this stadium isn't that big. It'll probably fit only up to 28,000 people. I bet he'll be bored playing with these sucky American players (except for Donovan, and Johns). I am rather more interested in the impact in tourism that this Beckham guy will bring. Lets see how many people from Asia, and Europe will come watch this team play here.[..continue]

Duke Saraie's walking lecure

My wife and I went to this walking lesson done by this walking proffesional named Duke Saraie. This guy is quite famous in walking industry. He teaches models and various sports athletes on how to walk properly, and promotes good health via walking. He hosted his lecture in Redondo Beach, and we had a free ticket so we had to go. Our seats were right in the middle of the front row. Pretty good stuff. There were few hundred people there. Here is a video of his crooked looking walking exercise... Yelp.com interesting stuff

I was checking out an article from LATimes and it says a lot of restaurants in San Francisco region have been impacted by this new Web2.0 type of website. Users write reviews of various businesses, and rate them based on five stars. This is interesting because you can actually hear what the people on the street are talking about the restaurant. The only thing I hope is that people will make untruthful comment about good restaurants... I'm going to try it out so I can give some intro to SoCal food industry, and let's see how others react. my yelp site: http://kid625.yelp.com[..continue]

AYSO - American Youth Soccer Organization

I went to one of the AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization)'s practice. My little cousin's team resides in San Bernardino area. I was in the organization for about a year when I was young, but this soccer program is ran quite proffesionally. I guess the league is created based on the region you live in. Almost all of the coach, and the refs are volunteers. A lot of parents participate in helping out as well. When AYSO starts, a lot the parks in California are filled with soccer kids. After travelling many places, I felt that a lot of these kids are fortunate to have a lot of parks with grass.[..continue]

FC Barcelona vs Chivas in LA

I went to the friendly match between FC Barcelona (2005 European Club Team Champion) against Mexico's club team Chivas. I was amazed at the number of the audience. About 90,000 people had visited the Los Angeles Colosseum. Most of them were Latinos, and the whole event was hosted with Spanish language. A day before the game, FC Barcelona was doing an open practice at Home Depot Center. I got excited when Eto and Puyol passed by waving at us. Heres a picture of Puyol, and the game.[..continue]

Recently I paid a visit to Amoeba Music in Hollywood. This place is quite nice. It has many selections of new/old music CDs, DVD, posters, etc. I'm sure if you love music, this place will be a great place for you. Also Amoeba hosts free live shows for various artists. Recently, I stoped by to see DJ Cut Chemist. He is quite famous in the DJ industry if you didn't know. It felt kind of weird watching the show from the aisle of CDs, but it was fun.[..continue]

Los Angeles new urban culture

Looks like a riot broke out in the jail near Los Angeles. Apparently, mexican and african american gangsters had some conflict. Seems like a lot of folks got hurt. Comapred to the early 90's, looks like gang bangin' looks watered out. Don't hear much sensational gangsta rap like the Dr. Dre's "Chronic" album [..continue]
