African American Enka Singer - Jero

Enka is a Japanese folk music usually popular and listen among older generation. One of the biggest break through that is occuring right now in Japan is that this new emerging artist name Jero is generating a lot of hype.

1) One reason is that he is an African American, born in Pensylvenia USA. Understanding that no Japanese kids listen or sings enka songs, having an American coming into this genre is a break-through.

2) This kid is amazing. Enka is very hard to sing and this type of music requires clear pronunciation of Japanese. He must have picked up his Japanese skills really well from his grand mother.

3) Having a huge break-through in this genre, where it is typically hard for any Japanese artist to be successful (due to its conservative nature), Jero must be very skilled.

My buddy from work gave me this link to this YouTube video of this comedian called Anjelah Johnson.
She talks about an experience at a nail salon.
She immitates the Vietnamese (Thai?) lady's accent pretty well.
Funny stuff!

Vice Guide to Travel DVD

This DVD by Vice magazine is pretty cool. These crazy ass people go around different red zones in the world and capture their footages based on the topic each guide covers.

Some of the places they go are Rio's ghetto, Chernobyl, Pakistan's black market, Bulgaria to buy dirty bomb, etc.

I've listed the trailor from YouTube. Check it out.
